Laura Lee Fischer earned her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and her M.A. in choral conducting from Yale School of Music. She is chief of the Performing Arts Division of the Copyright Office which is part of the Library of Congress. Ms. Fischer co-directed the Library of Congress Chorale for four years where performances included Brahms' Neue Liebeslieder, Pinkham's Wedding Cantata, Schumann's Requiem für Mignon, Bartok's Four Slovak Folk Songs, Beach's Three Flower Songs, and Della Joio's Songs of the Open Road. Past performances include Bach's Jesu Meine Freude, Stravinsky's Renard, and Brahms' Nänie.
Ms. Fischer served as Assistant Director of Columbia Pro Cantare from 1989 till June 2019, when she was named CPC Artistic Co-Director by the CPC Board of Trustees. She has conducted Columbia Pro Cantare in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in 2014, Carmina Burana in 2017, "Go for Baroque" in 2018, "Salute to Gershwin and Kern" in 2019, "Celebrating Women Composers" in 2020, CPC’s video "Thank-You" concert and Vivaldi’s "Gloria" in 2021.
